The story of St. Brigid's Cross: St. Brigid was fascinated with the life of St. Patrick and tried to spread Christianity as much as she could. One day she was called to the deathbed of a dying man. She gathered the rushes from off the floor and fashioned what is now called St. Brigid's Cross. Through the cross, she told the story of Jesus' life and the man was converted before he died. Traditionally, this cross has been kept in Irish houses because it is believed to bless the house and protect it from fire.
